2650 Highway 9 West, North Myrtle Beach, SC
7.1
With brand new Champion Bermuda grass gliding your ball across the green, a course you didn't think could get any better - just did. Engulfed by nature and surrounded by 23 glistening finger lakes the course is bold, beautiful, but with a flair for the dramatic. Every club in your bag will be pulled out on our wide fairways, and after a challenging round of golf let our friendly staff meet your every need at our Plantation-style clubhouse.

Would like to see a course layout and a scorecard available online so I can see what kind of game I have to bring.

Our first round and it was excellent. A little bit of a drive down Highway 9, but worth it. Very friendly staff.

I have played at Black Bear before, but it was in the best condition I have ever seen it. The fairways were great and around the greens as nice as I have played.

The staff was fine, however, compared to 2009 not even close. I doubt we play BB again anytime soon. The course is OK but the staff last year made the place special.

(1) Grill was closed by the time we finished 18 holes (~5pm). Would like to see it stay open somewhat longer. (2) Had to wait ~30 minutes after 9 holes to start the back 9. This was frustrating and not acceptable. If we had not prepaid through the package, we would have requested a refund at this point. (3) Ranger patrol could have been more prevalent. The group behind us hit into us twice, once on the front 9 and once on the back 9. We finally saw a course ranger on hole 17 and let him know of the situation. Starters and rangers need to mention "golf courtesy" at the beginning of the round, especially to younger golfers. (4) Some of the greens were "patchy," but overall the course was in good shape. I enjoyed the course itself and would play it again.
