Despite being relatively quiet, Blackmoor decided not to double tee (1st & 10th) which resulted in a long wait at the 1st until the short early holes cleared. Whilst a lovely layout, the inability of this course to drain late in the year, hence limiting carts to paths, is undesirable and leads to long walks and a slow round.

Good start off course because it does not demand you be long off the tee. It is a shot makers course of the first magnitude. Keeping it in the short grass is at a premium. Knowing where the sun sets is also a must. I have played Blackmoor several times and its design gets better with each passing year.

Unfortunately we had to play our round in the rain which took the fun out of playing. The course was wet, ball would plug in the wherever it would land. I'm sure that if we had played on a dry summer day our experience would have been much more enjoyable.

Always a good time at Blackmoor. The people are professional. Just as TPC we were forced to play cart path only due to the recent heavy rains which made some fairways in poor condition. When we are playing for that much money I would prefer to drive out to my ball.

I enjoyed Blackmoor. There were a couple of holes (don't remember the #'s) where there was a blind second shot (on a par 5) that if you didn't lay up you went into a swampy grassy area, the problem was it was marked on the card.

Great hospitality from pro shop staff. Loved the par 4 option to either drive on the left side or take a risk and drive on the right side. Wish the Black Knight had designed other courses in Myrtle Beach as I loved the course design.

The last time I played Blackmoor was shortly after the course opened. I truly was suprised how well it has matured over the years. My only complaint ... "paths only" for that day. Love those doglegs and the greens putted as "true" as any bermuda I've ever seen. The staff was most friendly of any course on the Strand! Great return to nostalgia!

This golf experience was absolute first-class. The attendant at the pro shop was very informative, the gentleman at the bag drop was very friendly and the starter was helpful in explaining the course to a group of first-time players of this course. Condition of the course was just perfect. My family has been staying in Myrtle since 1978, this was my 5th year of golfing down here and we will now play Blackmoor each and every year. Thank you so much and keep up the great first-class work!

The routing was great, there was more than one option off the tee which makes it fun. We had some rain the night before, making the greens very receptive, nothing rolled off. It was hot and muggy (imagine that, hot and muggy in July at Myrtle Beach), beside the cart girl, the rangers checked on us 3 times to make sure we were drinking and had plenty of water. Finding yardage markers was a challenge sometimes, this did slow us a bit in places. The staff were all wonderful, the greens true, and the holes unique. I'll be back.

Several people mentioned the greens weren't in great shape but I thought they were better than the ones we played at the day before at Waterway Hills. We breezed through the first 9 (back 9) in less than 2 hrs. but were then slowed when we caught up with the first wave of groups that were starting on the front 9.

From the bag drop attendant to the course starter, the service was excellent. They made my twin boys feel special and they went above and beyond at every turn. The golf was a great value and the course was not full, which made for an enjoyable round. Thanks, Blackmoor!

We enjoyed our round except that we had a 2:40pm start time and the back 9 play was very slow making us finish just before dark. The round was 5 hours plus. Great course though!

Accuracy is a premium on many holes. Like the split fairway on #8. This is another course that the second time around would be better.

The course was its usual good self. The only problem was on the back nine that there was a delay of at least two foursomes due to a late arrival at the course. That was really an extremely slow back nine.

Feb, 14, 2009: "I recently played Blackmoor on 02-10-09, course was in very good shape and the staff was most friendly. Greens rolled very well and were receptive to all shots. It appears that the management is in the process of adding much needed drainage and also installing additional irrigation around the greens. On a lighter note, they have some of the best Bloody Marys around!"

Commented Feb. 11, 2009: "My wife and I played this course on 2/11/09. The greens weren't in very good shape yet but it is early in the year. I thought the course was a little short but fair. A little pricey for what the course is, I would probably look for a better deal."

Dec. 15, 2008: "A person in our group hit an errant shot breaking a window. The house owner was belligerant, rude and threatened to have the police come to the course and arrest the person. The golf shop sent the ranger out and pertinent information was provided for restitution. The staff was cooperative and understanding despite the behavior of the house owner."
The home owner you encountered does not represent all of the home owners at Blackmoor. Not all of us home owners are that way (as long as you fix the problem). As a homeowner on the course, I understand the risk of owning a home on a golf course. Broken windows and dented gutters come with the territory, as long as the golfer understands he or she is responsible for their errant shots. Sorry you had a bad experience ...

Played Sept. 16, 2008: "If you hit a fade you will love this course. Plenty of dogleg rights and only one dogleg left. Since I hit a fade, I had a blast and got the best score that I've gotten on any course in the area."
