Hole #18 is featured in the book "The 100 Greatest Holes along the Grand Strand" - published by The Sun News "Narrow fairways, sharp doglegs are part of this classic old style design." - by Nick Nicholas, Sun News Golf Writer Litchfield Country Club was among the initial eight courses built on the Grand Strand. And it was the first course in the Pawleys Island/Litchfield area. While it's popular for courses today to tweak their design, Litchfield Country Club hasn't taken that path. Open for play in 1966, the course has maintained its original features, including player friendly greenside pathways for bump and run approach shots. Ranked one of the "world's 50 best" by Conde Nast Traveler, the gracious charms of this exclusive country club "signature course" are enjoyed by a limited number of visiting golfers. The mature tree-lined fairways wind amid giant oaks and shimmering lakes of a former Carolina rice plantation, creating an extraordinarily challenging "country club" experience. This traditionally styled layout is the flagship of the historic plantation courses. You'll find Litchfield Country Club to be a preferred destination because of its country club atmosphere.

Course was great, but play was horribly slow. Commented about it to the pro shop and they didn't seem to care. Won't go back to this place again. Will go someplace where they seem to want my business.

(Would like to have known prior to playing) which side of fairway to avoid.

Paul, the starter, was really friendly and helpful. The people in the grill - the bartender especially - seemed to act like I was a pain to have to take an order from. The bartender was very unfriendly.

Tree-lined fairways provided much-needed shade on a really hot day and the doglegs placed a premium on your tee shots. The rough was thick but not long, which I like. All in all, a fun experience.

What a treat!!! Still stinging from son beating me, but I can't blame this on the course. Very great staff. The starter was very informative and came around often to check on play. This may be our new favorite! Old style design is a hit and "junior" seemed to like it as it was his first ever sub-90 round!
